Ok stupid question but wonder what the micron rating of ladies stockings would be? The price of filter socks isnt exactly cheap even in bulk but dollar store stockings are about $1.50 a pair (honestly this idea came from girlfriend as well as all info on pricing and where to buy cheapies) and would be easy to use something like a 3X4" pvc reducer to make a holder for such a thing. Just a thought

Actually I think some people DO use ladies stockings - with great success. As far as knowing the micron rating (being someone who actually *wears* stockings...LOL) they differ too...IOW, it's not one set size as far as how loose or tight the mesh is. I think the more expensive stockings (like LEGGS) have a tighter mesh or micron than some of the cheaper ones. Don't know which ones would work best though, as I haven't tried this myself. :P

I use ladies stockings all the time to hold carbon, phosguard, etc. Not sure of the micron rating but they work great and I love the looks I get when going in to buy them.

To get the full effect ask them how this color would look on you and what color shoe it would go with. :lol

I also use stockings to help with bubbles and to filter the water but I have yet to actually buy them... I'm going to have to make a specific trip just see what looks I get. I might wear a hardhat and toolbelt just to see if that helps

I use stockings for holding filter media, from time to time.
