I've now have had this RO/DI unit sitting here for a month or more. I need to hook it to the hose bib that feeds cold water to my clothes washer (basically a outside water faucet). I can't find the parts I need to do this at the local hardware store so I'm looking for help here.

Does anyone know where I can get something like in the pictures?

I already have the ball valve so all I lack is the connection to the faucet with the threaded hole where I will connect the ball valve. Since the pipes leading to the faucet are brass I dont think I have to worry to much about the material its made from.

thanks for any help you can provide

I'm going to head back to Lowes just to see if I can rig something up. The first time I went I wasnt looking at brass at all... But now that I think about it brass isnt going to make any difference

My son and I went to Ace Hardware and found the hookup for the outside faucet. I have mine mounted in a cabinet on the patio. works great.

I looked at lowes for an hour and a half tonight... I couldnt even buy multiple pieces to make it work... If its at Lowes is it in some other dept than plumbing???

Lowes should have a tapped faucet right? I know you are only looking for an adaptor but they do have the entire faucet fixture with a 1/4" or 3/8" FPT hole in it. My backyard there are two faucets attatched end to end as needed one with the tapped hole and it works fine. Just an idea

Hughes plumbing supply - Rittiman and IH 35 or many ACE and McCoys carry brass and stainless fittings.

As bprewit said "Y" the water supply first and then attach the washer to one and the ro to the other ...

I finally pieced together a system like what you are talking about at HD a little over a year ago. Only problem was I had to use a splitter from the line to the washing machine (looks like a Y and each head has it's own shuttoff). After that I found a piece in the plumbing section that would fit onto that end and from there hooked up an adapter that had the 1/4 inch push in type on the other end.

I have adapters to hook the unit straight to the hose bib. If you put an ordinary splitter on the faucet you can run one side to the hose and the other to your unit. I'll send it to you for free if you send me your address.

Thanks for the offer Tim, but let me make one more trip to the harware store to look at the adapters and splitters... Maybe I can figure it out and save you the part and postage.

I did find the threaded gate valve with waste. The "with waste" was perhaps what bprewit is talking about but the threaded ends were FI so they wouldn't fit onto a garden hose thread and the waste was smaller than a 1/4" more like 5/16". As a matter of fact is seems that all the fittings that I needed were the wrong thread.

I'm going to try to hit HD today after work to see if there is anything there, maybe I'll let my fingers do the walking a little and see if I can locate it without the drive time. One way or the other I'll keep you informed and if nothing else works I'll take you up on your most generous offer Tim

I'm pretty sure I have one that you can have. Tim gave me a bunch of parts when I picked up the RO/DI units on a group buy. If its any easier for you let me know.

I really would like to get thing running this weekend and everyone is so helpful on this site that I now have 2 offers... I love this place!!!

Ken, do you have the black one with the quick connect made into it? That is the one I was going to send down. Jaded can buy one of the nice metal faucet splitters at home depot with the valves on them and connect the adapter to one side and the hose for the washing machine to the other. That should take care of the problem. If you don't have it let me know and I'll mail one down.

Ouch... I just went to the store and bought close to the same setup. If you see this message save the postage. If not then I will gladly accept your kind donation and will be happy to help you out in the future.

Thanks for the pictures, that is a much easier way to do it than the stuff I bought. I think I might get this hooked up after all

I was thinking of a different part that would'nt have worked, the chrome piece that hooks up to a faucet.

Glad to hear you got it taken care of though.

thanks for all the help guys... I think I got it all kooked up and running. I've flushed the membrane and am currently filling my first bucket of RO/DI.

Now I need to borrow/buy/trade for a TDS meter. I'll post about this elsewhere.

Thanks again for all your help

Thanks for the tip... I know thier not expensive but I was hoping to borrow one quickly just to test the output of the RO/DI water I'm getting out of this unit.

It looks really clear, I guess thats a good sign!!!

If I can borrow one for a short time I can recover from the vet bills (very old, very ill dog) enough to buy my own soon. I'll be at the store from noon to 7 tomorrow (Tues.) unless I get the chance to work on a display case I'm building during the day.

I PM'ed you my number
