I have a hydnopora that I want to try and frag, but have never fragged any SPS before. Do I just brake a branch off and super glue it to a rock? I thought I read someone saying you have to wait to glue for a while. Should I cut it down all the way to the base? Would I need to wear rubber gloves or anything? I have no friggin clue on this one folks. Someone please point me in the right direction here. Thanks

First to break off a frag I'd get some surgical forceps so that you can get a good clean break and not get your hands in tank. Gloves are always a good idea regardless of what you're doing. Also I'd let the frag have a few days to rest before glueing it to a rock though I've never had a problem when I immediately glue them down. Waiting though is a little safer.

Should I just lay the frags on the bottom of the tank before the glue. Should I try and stick them upright in holes in my rocks? How long should I wait to glue them? Also, should I try and disturb it a bit first so that all the polyps retract? Sorry I am super dumb when it comes to this. I dont have much experience with SPS.

Honestly I'd make yourself a small eggcrate basket that hangs over the side of the tank. You can put frags in it as needed then remove the basket when it's no longer needed. Most people say to leave the frags with no attachment for a week, but I feel that might be a little unnecessary personally. I'd let them sit in the basket for 3 to 4 days then go from there. Also, the minute you touch the sps the polyps will retract so there is no need to touch them prior to the fragging. Oh and super glue gel will quickly become your best friend.

Hydnophora....LOL.... Throw it on the ground as hard as you can, then glue all the little frags to rocks and watch out! Really though, they are tough little corals. I use needle nosed pliers and break off the branches you want, put a generous glob of superglue gel on a rock and press each frag onto it. Let it sit for a few minutes to set-up and place it on front of a powerhead to rinse it off. Then you can move each frag to a spot in your tank that you desire. The other way is take fishing line and tie it to a rock.
