Is it a skimmer or is that some sort of incubator to hatch germs or process chemicals in or something.

Looks cool, reminds me of the one sitting in my front room! Wish I had known about having the pumps closer together, mine has them on opposite sides of the tube making it take up a lot more space, almost 28 inches wide.
