I will be going to small claims court here shortly because Forever pets is refusing to warranty a 150g that has busted twice in under 1yr. If anyone has had a similar experience with them please contact me.

thanks everyone for the fast responses. I talked with Mike already and he has some good info for me, If anyone else has had a broken tank from them or can get in touch with someone that has let me know, I'm trying to show a track record of bad tanks. Thanks again.

hi alex, i think i was there the day you were replacing one of them. I was buying that reactor from todd.
Did Toy refund your money for the tank(s)?

Nope. Nothing. He told me it was my fault.

Try the search engine, seems like there have been a couple of reports since MikeyBoy's incident?
Definately seems to be a pattern here <_<

If I recall correctly Matt had his centerbrace fall aswell in his AquaTrend tank.
JEREMY78247
Wed, 13th Jul 2005, 10:50 AM
Henry, thats exactly what happened to my tank. The first time the centerbrace fell in and cracked the back of the tank, the second time the center brace detached front and back. Only the plastic strap was holding the tank together, bowing out close to an inch front and back.
Henry I'll PM you my number.

Thanks to everyone that replied, I'de like to know if anyone would be willing to appear in court and give a detailed account of what happened to their tank and how it was resolved. I can take a notarized statement I'm sure, but as you well know nothing beets a face to face conversation. All I'm trying to prove in my court case, is a pattern with these tanks. When I filed the paperwork they told me the case would take no longer than an hour to two. I'm not doing this for the money, I don't like the way I was treated and lied to my face by Toy, and I know there are more people out there have been there and know what I'm talking about.

JimD had one explode also. This Toy fella sounds like a real classy guy. Right up there with Cleburne Marine, some of you old timers remember this class act.

Yeah, only good thing that came out of that deal was bags of sand one time. Not even sure if anyone checked to make sure it was real aragonite sand or did he bag it himself out of some poor kids sandbox.

I need some help here. I called 1-800-252-1386 (business tax department) to find out who the registered agent for Forever Pets, Inc. is and I was given the last know agent. I was told they haven't been paying their dues i.e. taxes I guess and that they are in forbearance. Does this mean that they are no longer legally a corp.? I'm kinda lost. Anyone can call the same number listed above and get the same info, I'm not sure what to make of it.

Jeremy,
This should help you out.
Go to www.window.stste.tx.us
Under quick links click on Sales Tax. On the next page click on Searchable Taxpayer info Data
Next page, click on the same, the next page is the search engine. You then could search any business you want in the State

Thank you SBreef, that site had alot of info. I still don't understand something, that site said the same thing, Forever Pets is not in good standing as is has not satisfied all state tax requirements. Is this anything I should even concern myself with, is it helpful to me in any way?

Doubt it is helpful. All that is saying is they have issues on back taxes or something like that, just trouble with the government. Bad products, liability for those products, and ripping people off are a separate issue.

The comptroller is the agency that has authority to collect sales tax. No, if they are are not in good standing and owe back sales tax, the comptroller has the authority to shut down the business until all taxes are paid. If they are behind on sales taxes, it could be a indicator that they may be having difficulties.

And if they are having difficulties, your probably going to be S.O.L. on trying to collect any damages....I know how you feel. We were trying to take some legal routes on Cody at Cleburne Marine and he just vanished.... I hope this works out better for you. I hate seeing people get ripped off. Personally If it were my business, I would at least appologize and explain that my business was going under rather than blame the customer or ignore it... People tend to understand the truth better than lies.

It could also be that their corporate certification is suspended, meaning that the owner is personally exposed in the case of liability/lawsuits.

Is the issue with aquatrends or f-pets. I have a vey small (36g corner tank) aquatrends tank set up in a study, should I be concerned with the quality of this product?

they are both the same company from my understandings. i dont know if you have anything to worry about but if you ask some of the others on here you might think about a tank swap. personally i have never had any experiences with them and will be keeping it that way.

Do they sell there tanks to other LFS's to sell. I bought it here in SA because of the shape, its perfect for the study. The other tanks I own or have owned have been Ocianic and would prefer to buy the same just didn't like the round front. Is F-pets on Nacog. Aquatrend is located on basse rd.

Which, unfortunately, is hard to do in Texas. And, if they owe a lot of other people/taxing entities, you'll be one of many. However, having a judgement will give your claim priority over any regular unsecured creditors, I do believe.

I think I remember this place now...Weren't they on Bandera near a minor emergency clinic? I used to shop there until 1993, but I quit giving them business because the lady that ran the store was rather rude. At my last visit there, their tanks all had a really bad cyano problem and the fish looked miserable, and they didn't really seem to care. I think a possible solution for those with busted tanks might be to contact Troubleshooters or Eyewitness Wants to Know. Just a thought.

That was an older shop they had that has since closed. They have a small place on the corner of Nacogdoches and O'Conner. Then they have Aquatrends aquariums that is on Basse then they opened another pet store named Forever pets in the front since it's the same owner (Toy).
Just for information. I had my 180 that is one of their tanks drilled there and had no problems. Actually four of the cleanest holes that I've seen put in so far. Maybe they have new folks working in the back building their tanks. Still no excuse for rude responses from the owner though.

I just have a 65 gallon, but I could imagine the feeling of my heart dropping into the pit of my stomach if I had a big tank that broke. I'm happy for you that they did a good job on your tank.

Sure is a sad day when a tank breaks or leaks. I personnally have had 10 plus Aquatrend tanks and they were all great. I know for a fact of two that did break or leak. One I was envolved in the repairs and the other was a replacme.t, These belong to two other reefer keepers.
Sure was a sad day when Tim Marvin's custom tank leak and he had to take it back to the manufacturer himself!!!!
I know of three people who each owned Oceanic tanks and they leaked?????
Two went thru hell to get fixed up and the other was treated right!
I think that not getting help from the place where you brought it sucks!!!!
I can only hope for the best for you.

I think Matt had a problem with one a while back. Cannot remember if it was an Aquatrends, but I seem to remember them replacing it. Then again, I could be wrong.

I think that my tank is an aquatrends but I would have to go back and check to be sure. I bought it from dow back in April not sure how long he had it up and running but I think it was close to 3 years or so. I resealed the tank and leak tested seems to be doing fine so far of course it is sitting in my garage. You know good old Murphy though as soon as I get it in the house and full of SW that is when I will have problems. LOL

Toy owns AquaTrend which makes the tanks, in other words he is the manufacturer :roll .
