If he eats it I say go for it. I really would let the puffer decide..... IMO

I would try to mix up its diet some. Don't just feed him all the same things all the time.

I wouldnt feed him snow/king crab. It comes pre-cooked and I would think the sodium content might be high.

Maybe the uncooked blue crab may work? I dont see it much @ HEB but they have it pretty frequently at Tims Asian Market in SA. In fact most of the time they are still alive. Really freaks my daughter out to see them sitting in a box on the floor snapping their pinchers at us when we walk by.

If they are red in color then yes.

If it is snow/king crab then it is cooked for sure. If it is blue crab and not red in color then it should be ok. I would check with them to make sure.

IMO...the more variety the better, however, Krill is a exceptionally nutritious food...I mean gosh that is the staple food of humback whales. ;)
If you feed crabs, shrimp , clams, etc. from a store just make sure that they are raw and that they have not been treated with anything.

OK, you guys are probably going to laugh, but I read that some puffers actually chewed on, and seemed to enjoy the cuttle bones (can be found at most chain pet stores - usually for caged birds) that have been put in the tank for them. The cuttle bones are ocean oriented and cheap, so it may be worth a try to keep his teeth trimmed?

As far as what you feed for nutrition, the more variety the better...uncooked of course.
