Ok, this may sound like a stupid question, but I have never siliconed bulkheads in, just simply tightened them and no leaks. For those that have, how do you silicone them in place? By this I mean, do you put silicone around the hole and then put the rubber washer over it and then the bulkhead? Or, do you put the washer against the glass and then silicone between it and the bulkhead itself? Or, do you just install the bulkhead and then run a bead of silicone around the entire thing?

As I have 14 bulkheads on the main tank and then many more on the sump and fuge, I want to make sure there are no problems and I'm thinking of siliconing them in.

Put the bulk head in place and start the nut. Keeping the washer on the water side silicone around the bulkhead body near the hole and tighten down. Gauaranteed not to leak...

So keep the washer against the head and then silicone the body as you slide it in place?

If the washer is inside then silicone from the outside around the body. I did enough that the silicone would fill the void and ouze out the back.
