We just got our PFO moonlight installed on the tank 2 nights ago.
Did a little early morning fishing and found this worm.
I snatched it out of the tank when I saw it. I have a bunch of shells piled in a corner and hope that they are not empty because this beast was in the same area.
It is flat and about 3/8" wide with dark edges and grey center. It was over a foot long when I pulled it out of the tank.
What the heck kind of worm is this?

Want another one ? :D

I don't believe this guy will be residing in my tank any longer.
It kinda reminds me of that water snake thing in "The Abyss" when it starts moving.
Gives me the creeps just looking at it.

Never seen one this big before.
Do bristleworms tend to get flatter and wider as they increase in size?
I have seen some large bristle worms but they didn't look anything like this.

This thing is a MONSTER :o

LOL...and bear in mind, this was the first thing I saw when I awakened this morning - Chris standing over the bed with a bucket in hand looking like the proverbial cat that ate the canary..."Look what I caught, honey"...LMAO :lol

No...I got THE monster out of my 100 when breaking it down to do the 180...this thing flipped up out of the sand when scooping the old sand bed. I screamed & ran out of the room. Scared the you know what out of me. don-n-sa (Donny) came & got it & put it in his tank. YUK! It had to be at least 16-18" I think. It was a bristleworm.

Not to worry, that giant arrow crab will make short work of you bristle worm population. Of course then you'll have to worry about detritus clean up.

I have no problems with the smaller ones, but this one would give me nightmares! Bearing in mind that the tank is about three feet from my side of the bed... :o

Take my worm, PLEASE! Anybody want it? :P

Great. I got a little something for Wendy as well so maybe we can get together this week. Give me a call or drop me a line when you get a free moment so we can discuss plans.

I had a bristleworm slightly bigger than that in my tank in Hawaii. I just put a crab in there (the bad kind) and it took care of it.

Don't touch the bristles, they sting you.
