Over the past month I've noticed it smells like the Whale tank at SeaWorld when I feed my fish. Nothing has changed. It just smells now. If you've ever been to SeaWorld and seen the Sea Lions or whales, you know the smell.

Funny!
I just seems MUCH stonger than before. This tank is over a year old too and nothing has changed.

Do you use activated carbon? You just might have a certain bacteria growing in your tank in levels that was not as high before.
I don't recommend any brand of activated carbon (http://www.petfooddirect.com/store/product1.asp?pf_id=80434233&affiliateCode=PF012803 &cm_ven=Performics&cm_cat=Yahoo%20Search%20Submit% 20%28SMX%29&cm_ite=DDI%20Link) this is just the first one that came up. Claims to reduce odor.

How often do you completely clean your skimmer collection cup and the skimmer barrel? I mean more than just emptying it?

Do you have a deep sand bed? I know Scuba Steve had an issue with a bad smell from his tank and he swears it is from the sand bed.

Well if you think about it the Skimmer removes all the fish poo and other crud. Im sure it cant smell great. Mine stinks when you open the lid but I cant really smell it other than that.

Yes on the DSB, It's rather clean compaired to most. Yes the Temp has gone up to the 82-83 range. Yes the skimmer smells like **** when you get right on it. My house is 3600 SqFt It smells up the whole house when I feed now. And it's not that rotten egg smell that the skimmer has when you empty it.

LOL, should we have a skimmate smelling contest?
Sure skimmers stink after awhile, that's why they started making those carbon air filters for the skimmate collection cups. I would think that Stephen cleaning it every two weeks would keep the odor down though. Unless of course he started using some different chemicals or foods on the tank so the skimmer is collecting some new junk that has a much worse than normal odor.

The obvious question ... what are you feeding your fish :P
How about this explanation - It is warmer, the AC is running more, higher level of evaporation, and the AC is circulating the skimmer smell throughout the house - your nose just needs a little time to "acclimate"
