Where do I start. Well, I learned of and met Pete Rafferty through MAAST through Scuba Stevo to begin with.

As I moved Blake's system over to my house we were lined up for some changes to the room and system.

I asked Pete to come by and look at the stand/canopy for ideas and a quote on the changes.

While here we mentioned we were going to pull the carpet and tile the room. PETE SAID "I DO TILE". So, I come to find out that is a major understatement. He use to be a full time installer for a major national chain! He did our tiles and the are PERFECT and at a GREAT PRICE!!!!

He then let me pay him for a full day of technical system design work (cutting proper and nice looking holes in walls, supportive shelving, etc) much better than your's truley with a chop saw. :lol

HOW MANY TILE AND CABINET PROFESSIONALS DO YOU KNOW THAT UNDERSTAND REEF TANKS TOO?
Think this isn't important? WRONG! What typically happens when you make major changes to a room where a reef system sits? You have to move lots of items including tank support systems----RIGHT?

Well half a day in to our tile going in Pete called me in to the room and said "you have a problem!" One glance at my sps tank and it's milky white color told it all. I had moved my kalkwasser sump out of the room and added 50' of extra line. I had turned the pump up to fill the extra line and guessed (wrongly!) that it would take a long time to fill the line.

I quickly did a water change and everything was fine. If Pete hadn't known about tanks I would have lost several thousand dollars in sps coral stock................pretty nice security in my book.

In addition I mentioned that my very expensive new skimmer was already a month late from the manufacturer and looking to be 2 MORE months before delivery! Pete looked at it and could make if FOR LESS THAN HALF WHAT I HAD PAID! I e-mailed the tardy manufacturer and the money is now headed back to me. I'll have a great skimmer, when I need it, for lots less money. Plus local "manufactuer's service"! :lol :P :o

Pete's handle on MAAST is: ~Pete~

Try him out, you won't be dissapointed!

Todd,

You just found out what a lot of us have known for a long time. I'm sure a lot of the MAAST newbies just got a good testimonial though. One of these days we're going to figure out what Pete isn't capable of doing, besides being a public orator that is.

I have a less involved but equaly great story about pete... I have a sump and skimmer that there would have been no way I could have afforded without his help. He even came all the way across san antonio to alter it after it was installed and running! He did all the cutting and alterations in his rather impressive workshop... the back of his truck!!! He actually sneared at my full garage shop, as if to say "what do you need all that stuff for".

My name is Jade and I fully endorse this advertisement

<-------- Nuf said!

BTW - You all should be paying me a finder's fee. It was the lure of my system concept that brought him back home to San Antonio! ;) :P

Speaking of which - Pete consulted with me via PM and EMail for months before I ever met him or talked to him on the phone. He is unique, and we are lucky to have him as our VP & Friend :)

Being a carpenter Pete probably has some of those breat big clamps used when joining two lengths of board.

Good thing, cuz he is gonna need them to keep the swelling down on his head :D :P ;)
