What type of paint to use on Aquarium?

Im looking to paint the background on my 75g. What type of paint is best to use on the glass?

I used the epoxy based appliance paint from HD. It comes in a whole slew of colors. Be prepaired to add several coats to get good coverage, and don't forget to tape and newspaper what you don't want painted.

Yeah, Brett. I painted the outside. I'd be very leery of painting the inside for several reasons.

1) I don't know what, if any, effect it might have on the fish;
2) I don't think that the paint would stick to the silicone in the corners, so it might look sloppy;
3) taping up the inside of the tank and then painting just seems like a lot of work.

I set mine out in the back yard on a table, and covered the sides, top and front with newspaper and blue tape, along with taping up the drilled holes(taped on the inside on this case). Then I just had at it with the black paint. I ended up with one small area where the paint kind of rippled, but other than that I'm extremely pleased with it.

Alternative method for covering back of tank.

One thing we did with our 29 gallon tank is put a piece of black felt against the back and taped it. It has had that on there for over 10 years and it still looks as good today as when we put it on there. AND it is a whole lot easier than using paint.

I use Painters Touch brand latex from Home Depot. Navy Blue is the color I prefer.

I was referring to the outside....Id never even attempt it on the inside. Ive been to HD twice now asking 2 different people and they told me not to use latex because it will peel right off. If you guys have done it w/ latex Ill try that.
