Actually I have no idea what it is but found a few of them in the junk pile at work. Pretty small but man there has got to be some kind of use for them cause they are cool looking and the motor works!

If you were to add an acrylic tube around the impeller. connect it to one of the holes it would create a flow box for medicating you tank. You'd probably have to shorten the axle though.
