Is anyone else having a problem with the page kind of refreshing while you are on it? When I am typing something the page will click and the text promt dissappears. This probably happens a few times a minute I think. If I'm not paying attention and hit the backspace key to correct something I just typed, my browser goes back to the last page or two which is really frustrating! If I do catch it, I have to click back on the field I was typing in to start up again. Just curious if this is the website or if it's my computer. I know there have been lots of changes lately to the site and I also made a few changes the other day here on my pc.

Its the chat window refreshing. It shouldnt have any effect on the rest of the page other than maybe a small click and flicker. I dont know what to tell you about the typing problem... it clicked while I was typing this with no problem

Im having a similar problem when typing a response in the quick reply box. While typing, it will randomly move my curser out of the box to somewhere else, so Im happily typing along and my text is not there because the friggin curser is nowhere to be seen. This really needs to be addressed like soon.

The list of users located in the chat room is refreshed once a minute. This refresh cycle has been removed since it seems to be causing frustration.
Chris can I ask what browser and version # you are using?

uhhg, an hour later and the site finally decided to let me back in. There are some serious problems going on here, like the MAAST logo being overlapped by sponsor banners, occasionally not refreshing at all making me have to reboot several times in order to connect to maast, not to mention the fact that I cannot access the chat room, this place really needs to be more "webtv" friendly and not focus so much on computers so to speak, if itll run on webtv, itll run on anything. When I first became a member here, the site would fly! No problems whatsoever. I know yall are trying to do things for the benefit of the club, but keep in mind that not all of us have the luxury of a mainstream computer at hand. Chris, I know youre very much aware of this problem, at this point, Im just so frustrated with my limitations, I just need to make sure that Im not gonna be left in the dust.... BTW, I get the internet for free, so Im not changing anytime soon, and yes, I have a real computer but its used for audio purposes only. gggrrrrr! This is the ONLY site I have problems with so I dont think its on my end...

Just because your not having problems, doesnt mean there are no problems, because, obviously, there are... At least for me.

Jim, you're not forgotten but i'm very limited towards any improvements I can do for you. I have access to a set of tools for WebTV development, but there is very little in the way of set instructions on better ways to implement newer standards into use for WebTV users. The fact of the matter is, your choice of web browsers is years behind compliance issues with that of the mainstream choices.
I have switched you back to the old theme of the site, you are only missing out on seeing the newer graphics... but functionality is more important to meet your needs.
In regards to you being unable to access the site for a full hour, there are no problems on our end. I've been browsing, along with many others for the duration of that time and longer. If your browser was unable to contact the site there may be other factors that are coming into play here.

Cool, things seem to be back to normal as far as accessability goes to the site, thank you! I dont particularly need the graphics, Id much rather have the functionability. The only issue I see now it getting the chat room to work, if thats even possible, if not, I guess Ill just have to live with it... Hey, thanks for working through these issues and making maast a better place to be, appreciate it!

Ironically, Microsoft makes use of Flash version 7 on their WebTV site (http://www.msntv.com/pc/experience/) to showcase their product, but only supports the version 6.0 plug-in for Web TV 2.
Until Microsoft makes it an issue to add this, you won't be able to access the chat. I'm having difficulty finding out when this upgrade will be available. Perhaps a call into the WebTV support department could help clear that up?

Chris -
I'm using the SBC Yahoo Browser. I clicked on the Help, About Browser and there are 3 versions listed, not sure which one would be the one you need. I'll keep an eye on it to see if the change on the chat function helps. I have noticed the same problem with my computer and another chat room I used once before so that is probably what was going on.

I just started having a rather odd problem over the last 2-3 days...all the posts are showing as though I've read them (not highlighted) when I haven't :unsure Anybody else experiencing this?

If you go into the site and then exit (like reading a PM) out of your browser, the next time you open your browser and go into the forum, all of the unread posts at the time you exited will be marked as read.
Is that what happened or is there a ghost in your machine? :innocent

Could be...I'll have to pay more attention to what I do when it happens - however, how would reading a PM exit me out of the browser?

LOL...not in my machine, but I think we have a gremlin that likes to hide bulkheads. We had some bulkheads for the new set up, but they have totally disappeared from the house. I've searched every room/drawer/cabinet, etc. and still can't find them :blink

OK...Nope, it's not when I read PMs. It happens anytime I'm reading a thread, and then go directly to the "access forum" on the left side of the screen. :unsure
Weird! It wasn't doing that a few days ago.

Once in a while ... yes! They will be maked as unread and if I read one and then go back to the forum index they are all marked as read.

Well, at least it's not just me. I was beginning to think it was my computer. Have another new glitch today too. Now, if I'm reading somthing or taking awhile to write a PM, the site is kicking me off and making me sign in again. This seemed to be fixed for awhile (and was GREAT), but now I'm having to re-sign in constantly. Argggg!!! :blink

LOL...Ewww...No. :sick
We use SBC Global. For awhile, everything was working great, and then something was done to stop the screens from refreshing...since then, I'm back to having problems. :unsure

What type of browser are you using? This sounds like it's probably related to a cookie problem.

Internet Explorer IE6...Windows XP home edition.
Like I said, everything was working really *great* when you had the screens refreshing.

Try this...
Go to Tools >> Internet Options
Go to Privacy Tab - at the bottom where it says "Web Sites", click the edit button and enter "maast.org". Select the "Allow" button.
Select OK to save.. OK once more to exit out of those settings and it should fix things.
