Mine like the lower part of my tank. I had put mine towards the top one time and it didn't look to good. As soon as I put it back down it started growing new heads.

Candycane (Caulastrea furcata) is very similar to Trumpet (Caulastrea echinulata) but here is an identifcation tip to distinguish between the two. The polyps of the Trumpet extend further out from the skeleton and appears to have the shape of a trumpet. The polyps also are more clustered and when expanded will obscure the individual branches which gives the appearance of a more solid grouping. Both prefer indirect bright light. Candycane prefers low current and Trumpet prefers medium water movement. Both can adapt to a wide variety of conditions.
Therefore, I would try it out in a lower position and slowly move it up until it gets acclimated to your lighting and water movement.

I keep mine on the sandbed, but then again, we are running 400W 10Ks. Low to medium flow. Mine are fed frozen (thawed in tank water) cyclopeeze once a week and anything else they can catch and eat when I'm feeding the fish.
