Need some of the tunze owners to chime in here. I was thinking of putting a 6060 on a 45 breeder. If I remember right it is 1600gph that would give me about 35 times turnover. I have decided to go BB with this tank so the sand storm is not an issue. What does everyone think? Good or bad idea.

I just put one on my 50 gallon aquarium and it blows things around like mad! The mounting kit it comes with is really really bad. If you buy it also buy the magnet holder for it.
I added some more live rock to dampen the flow and even with the extra rock my cleaner wrasse hangs out in one spot of the tank that has the least flow. Hopefully the magnetic holder will arrive soon then I will angle the pump toward the glass to make it lessen its flow.

My lawnmower blenny eats algae right out of the opening of the stream. I have a feeling your wrasse just needs to get used to it.

I thought it was a more gental wide flow. I was thinking of adding it one of the back corners blowing to the glass to force it around the tank. It will be a little while before I get everything. Getting together my list of supplies so that when I get stuff I can mark it off. I appreciate everyones input.

Too bad you aren't closer I have a 75 breeder tank that is divided so the Stream is in about 45 gallon section. It works awesome in there for the SPS frags and I have leathers, zoos, LPS, and other frags in there that love the flow.

that is good to hear that is what I want to put in my tank as well. SPS in the middle section with zoos, LPS, and other on the ends of the tank.

SOunds good Doug. I like the way you are planning everything ahead with plenty of time. I have seen the Tunze pumps and they are amazing. I want one for my 30g long. Your tank will be super clean and with all that flow your detritus will not settle in your tank. It will settle and gather in the sump where there is less flow and will be very easy to siphon. I also reccomend the SEIOs. I have some and I have no complaints. If I had the money, i would definately go with the Tunzes though.

We currently have a 6060 in our 75G with a SEIO supplementing it, and it seems to be the perfect flow for that amount of water. I did have to move some things around when the Tunze was put in the tank, as our blastos, candy cane, and zoas didn't seem to appreciate the super high flow areas (we have a lot of LR deflecting flow to weird spots though). In a 45G, that's going to be a lot of flow, but should work just fine if you are able to find a good position for it. Once we get the 210G running, there will be the 6060 AND a 6080 to keep things moving...I'm getting SO excited about the new set up...getting close! :D

Yeah that is were I might have a problem. Will have to get it and then see were the best place for it will be. I was thinking one of the back corners then let the flow bounce off the front glas to help break it up. When it is set i will just have to play with it to get the optimum position. If it doesn't work out I can always sell it surely it wont last long in the for sale threads!!!

yeah I wish. I told my wife a nano cube then I read all the cracking issues. SO I change my mind to 29g the I find out the dow is upgrading and asks if I want to by his 45 breeder. This where I am now. If I told my wife I wanted a bigger tank she would more then likely find a short rope and a tall tree. I will have to look at all my options here. I know Tunze is the best but I think that a 820 seio and a 620 would also work. I know I posted that warning but like turbo said a few out of a couple thousand is no reaseon to worry. Will soon make up my mind. I coulds also point the 6060 to the floor of the tank and have it bounce off the glass where ever sense it will be BB.

I agree, but I think your flow will be fine. To be honest, I think i need more flow in my 29g. I have a seio 620 a maxijet and the mag 7 return that also gives me pretty good flow. I am seriously thinking of getting a tunze 6060 for my 29g. I believe my tank would love it. My corals that are nearer to the seio are responding better and growing faster. Just my two cents.

I think so to Jerry. I don't want to compromise my livestock for my worries. I know that I won't be able to keep shrooms in this tank but most SPS in the middle and LPS and others on the ends souds darn nice right now. Plus I will have the sump return as well to help break up flow.

You can do what I did, keep zoos and mushrooms in a 10g nano. It is very inexpensive and easy to take care of. You can tell your wife that you are setting up that tank for her. Trust me, she'll like the fact that you are including her in the hobby.

My wife could care less about aquariums. She knows how much I like them so she does not mind. She will help take care of it though when I am out I asked before I set off on the adventurous trek. She does like the corals and all the color so it is just a matter of time. I might set up a 10g aga at my office after I get things in the 45 going good.
