curious, they are SO pretty. I know they are tough to keep, just wanted to see if anyone was successful at it.

Hey Alex...
You should talk to Gary P. about these! :) I think he might have had pretty good success keeping them at one time or another.

I know (or have heard) they are not photosynthetic and are filter feeders (think phytoplankton drip). I am considering doing a species tank with a few in the near future. Maybe have them and a pair of purple firefish... pipe dream at the moment, but I am seriously considering it! :)

I've read that they are big challenge to keep...main reason being that they do need a constant supply of phyto or they will starve, and the battle to keep the water params balanced is *super* tough. RARE success, and a dedicated tank is a must. They SURE are pretty, though. :P

Everything I have heard about them is exactly what CD said. They require good current and a constant supply of phyto. That would get pretty expensive with DTs. You would have to set up a phyto reactor to keep them. It would take a species tank. The good news is that they don't require any special lights because as Denise said, they are not photosynthetic. They typical live hanging upside down in caves and under ledges feeding on phyto they catch in the current.
