Return Pump Noise?

Ok- I'm turning into a gear hog.
We are accumulating parts so when Dan gets our sump completed, we can get this tank plumbed and moving water.
I'm trying to decide what return pump to use for the 210.
I have 2 external pumps in my possession.
One pump is the Iwaki MD30RXT and the other is a PanWorld 100PX-X.

Here is the problem: I have heard the MD30 run and it is very quiet. The MD30 is the largest Iwaki without a fan.
I have not heard the 100PX-X run and I am concerned about the possible fan noise. I am unsure whether the Iwaki will feed the fuge and still get enough water back into the tank.
The tank will be in our bedroom (no room in the living area) and I dont want to stay awake at night listening to the drone of a return pump. I can tolerate hearing the pump, I just can't tolerate noticeable dB.
I found a Gorman Rupp 518 for the skimmer which is pretty much silent.

So.... to those of you with PanWorld and BlueLine pumps (or even Iwaki 40's and up), would the PanWorld be offensive in a bedroom environment? The pump will be inside the stand so that will block out some of the noise. Right now, we have to listen to a slurping fuge, a noisy chiller, and 2 vibrating Mag pumps in the sump.
Is this going to be worse?

Oooo, "noisy" is such a subjective thing? I haven't used an Iwaki, so I can't compare - I have three Panworld 100PXX's on my system. I can't hear them at all ... above the 15000 BTU AC, dehumidifier, etc. :P

Seriously, there is some noise, but really not much more than the muffin fans on my PC. I think the noise of your chiller & fuge gurgle will exceed the pump noise ... but like I said - soooooo subjective, esp. where you are sleeping.

You are more than welcome to come listen to mine, but it is a long drive. I would suggest plumbing it temporarily in/out of a tub and run it when the house is nice and quiet (does that ever happen at your place?).

Hey, how about installing a new 800 watt stereo system, just in case ;)

All kidding aside, I was SHOCKED how quiet this pump was.

You are right Steve- very subjective.
I could easily deal with a pump that made around the same amount of noise as my computer fans.
As for the stereo system, already have the specified wattage. :)
The chiller will definitely drown the pump out and we are thankful that it doesn't kick on too often.
As for the gurgling fuge, that problem will go away when the new sump/fuge is ready.
SA isn't that far of a drive and is trivial compared to the 600 mile round trip we made to Sherman last week in 11hrs.

I know GaryP. runs a PanWorld or maybe BlueLine in his system. Anyone know which pump he is running?
I will PM him but he seems to not be around as much these days.
I suspect that the fan can't be too offensive but I will just need to test it I guess.

Remember that my tank is in a tiled room. Your bedroom is carpeted. I think that will make a big difference for sound dampening.

Good point Gary! Also, how you do your plumbing will make a difference too! Don't let the PVC rest against anything, or the vibration noise will get amplified. You way even want to consider using 3/4" ID vinyl tubing instead of PVC?

Point the back of the pump (fan end) toward a wall, and tack a 12"x12" piece of carpeting (or similar) on the wall to dampen the noise, but keep the pump/fan 3-6" away from the wall/carpet

I'm a big fan of tubing instead of PVC. Why kill the flow you spent so much money on with elbows and T's in PVC lines.

Definitely going the tubing route with the plumbing.
Does anybody know where to obtain 1" barbed Y's ?
I guess I should check Ryan Herco since they are down the road from my work.

You can get the pvc Y's, then add a barb fitting to it.
