I got my brand new Salifert test kits just the other day so I rushed right home and got all set up.. read the directions... painstakingly performed all required steps and got my readings... of course I have no idea what they mean.
So here they are... please tell me what I should think
Calcium concentrated in ppm: 415
KH value in dKH: 7.7
Alkalinity in meq/L: 2.74

I think you are using Oceanic salt mix ;)
Add some buffer to get your dKH up a little.

Yeah, what Steve said.
Try to get it up between 8-12dKH.

8-12 on Alk is good, but pick a number and keep it there .. stability. I run mine at 10.

good suggestions... I know I've seen a few threads on buffer... I'll do a search

Have to agree with Pete on this one. Keep your alk stable so you wont have ph swings. I keep mine at 10 as well. If you are using oceanic salt, use some type of buffer to compensate for high calcium and low alkalinity. Shoot, I will shut up now. I think I am only repeating the same stuff mentioned before.

jaded, that should read 8-12 dKH on Alk is good. meq/l and dKH are both measurements of the same thing.
Exactly ... I just assumed Jade would understand what I ment, but good point.
