You can catch it while feeding them. My fish know when I am just looking and when I am feeding them. I wait for them to come out and the quickly nab them with a net.

Another way you can do it is to catch it at night time while it is sleeping.

If if hides in a cubby hole you might need a slurp gun to pull it out if you don't want to disburb the rest of the tank.

You might be able to find one or order one from a scuba shop. I am not sure if fish hobby stores sell them. I am sure a local fish store could hook you up and order one for you though if you ask.

A slurp gun is what people that "net catch" their fish use to pull fish out of little cubby holes. It is simply a tube with a plunger in it. You pull the plunger back fast and it creates a vacuum and that causes water to rush in and if you are lucky fish will come out too.

I saw a hawaiian guy catch a baby octopus with one of those. It was really cool. He wasn't doing it for hobby reasons though, he ate it hehehe. :lol

I'm not so sure that a slurp gun will work for you. It usually is at least 2.5 feet in length nad the plunger extends out the same distance. I don't think you'd be able to get it in the tank and use it correctly to get the fish...and by the time you try to get everything arranged, the fish would be hiding. I have a slurp gun that I purchased in 1990, and if you are in Austin, you are more than welcome to try. It might need some new seals, and I can check that out.

There may be smaller ones, this one was purchased in the early 90's. But the basic idea of it is to draw a larger volume of water into a cylinder of a certain circumference, through an opening of smaller dimentions than the cyl. The opening size will determine the size of fish you can collect. Mine is very long, and allowed for multiple fish to be collected at the same time, hence the longer tube...hopefully for your situation, they have smaller ones.

Good luck.

why not just keep it simple... put in a net and leave it there for a day, then when everyone is nice and used to it you use a turkey baster to inject food into the net. When the food hits the hungry little devil will fight to be caught. Then just yank that net fast and you got em!!!

I've used this technique many times, it works for me every time

I recently sent a nasty little damsel to his death... I felt exactly the same way, but I couldnt even give him away (it was before I found MAAST)!

I found solace in the fact that he died with absolutely no ick!

Did you post in the trade forum, someone might have a tank that would teach him how to fly right!!! I doubt he'd beat up on the triggers i've seen posted
