I just thought this was an appropriate time to post about my experience with Wolf Reef.

I would highly recommend this store, not because it's the prettiest, or because there will be coffee and a TV in a sitting room, or any of the other innovative things that are planned when the doors truly open. I would recommend this store because the ownership has it right... customer service and support with a willingness to give advice when needed or just shut the pie hole when that’s more appropriate.

I had a pump come in with shipping damage... not only did Alex take care of it, he called several vendors to find me the type of casing I wanted (black not blue) and researched the difference so I could make a better decision... In the end the blue was the best choice, but I wouldn't have known that without Alex’s help. He started calling around at noon and didn’t stop researching for me until after midnight... all this after he had my money. Lots of places would have done the same, but lots wouldn’t have.

Thanks Alex

Is this store open yet? I'd make the drive down from Austin to check it out. I'm personally glad to see people that we know from MAAST get into retail endeavors. In fact, I've bugged Tim Marvin a couple times about getting into something more like a shop in Austin because he'd be great at it- but he's so far been too smart to take on that kind of headache.

PS- I have no knowledge about the whole incident that was spoken about on other threads about Alex (I know, sometimes I live under a rock called "three kids and too much travel" and miss things that are going on) and I don't actually know him. This was just meant as a general comment. I will always choose a retailer that has been a MAAST member, and/or is friendly and well known to MAAST over one who is not, if given the choice- at least until and unless that person proves that they don't deserve my business.

He is open, not much stock yet. But if you haven't met him, i would suggest you make the trip to see/meet him. He is informative, and can order most anything you can dream up.

I was there the other day and was impressed with the setup and can't wait to see it completed and stocked. Guess I missed out on the pen thing??? Thanks for the heads up though. ;)

BTW, its always great to see someone "go for it" and do what they enjoy. Nothing better than to make money at it at the same time IMO.

I was in the store today and it is great! I got alot of ideas without even having bought the tank. I didn't buy much there (not yet) and got great advice. I plan to do alot of business there. My wife really liked it as both Alex and his wife didn't use alot of big words and complicated terms so she felt like she was more a part of the experience. She is more excited about the new tank than I am now and made me un load as soon as we got home instead of putting the truck in the garage and waiting till the morning. The more she like the hobby, the more I can have! :D Great people, great store.

We have some good LFS here in SA. I like WolfReef because you get that personal touch not found in many other places. Alex is committed to making a first-rate reef store. When he reaches his goal it is really going to be a great place to shop, converse with other aquarists, and get information. Great job, Alex.

I went by the other day and it is looking nice, can't wait till they get their Big Screen TV.

What more could you ask for, big screen TV, sofa, computer, fish and corals sounds like I need to move in.

Alex is the backroom for rent :D ?

I have been there so much that Alex can claim me as a dependent on his income tax. :roll Seriously, it is a fun place to relax, talk about SW topics, and enjoy the livestock you are still dreaming about. Alex's idea of providing a place for reefers to gather and enjoy our common interests is new and innovative. Good job, Alex.

PS: Reef69, I had "dibbs" on the other couch a LONG time ago. ;)

Alex has THE best prices in town I've seen. He also has stock that other lfs don't want/can't carry. I'd give rather give him support than other lfs any day! :shades

I made my first trip there the other night and I was really impressed. It is really nice to have a store that caters to refers so close to my house.

I picked up a few things including a really cool refractometer. Alex gave me a killer price on it, I know I couldnt have gotten it cheaper anywhere else. It is awesome!! I have been using the cheapo hydrometer for years. If you are still clinging to one of those then get rid of it now!!! When I checked my sg it was off big time. Instead of 1.025 I was at 1.030!!! I knew it would be off but not by that much.

I forgot to ask about the pen though :wacko

Well, We just had the most pleasant trip ever to San Antnonio.
Had the opportunity to visit WolfReef. Very nice. Carl thanks for your assistance today and yesterday. We pu salt yesterday and pu ground crew today before we left town. We appreciate what you did for us, Carl. BTW, the 4YO is terrific. I have already posted on another forum that I am on about this store. Good Luck Alex. Wish you success.
