*UPDATE* Anemone injured foot

Woke up this morning and my anemone's foot (a small section) looked like his innards was coming out from a tear. Is this certain death? Then, to add insult to injury, I saw my clown nip at the hole in the foot. He hasn't found a confortable place in the aquarium yet. He will attach, then when I come home he will be moving about exposing his foot.

Do you have a powerhead in the tank? If so, it probably found it while wandering around. If it constantly is moving, something isn't right about the tank - flow, lighting, ?. Under PCs my RBTA moved constantly, now that it is under MHs it hasn't moved once.

No power heads. When I got up this morning he was in the same spot as last night, only his foot was all exposed and my clowns were hanging around that area. Will he die? If so, how will I know he's about to go or going?

I have MHs and the flow is pretty powerful all over the tank.

well i moved him and the injured area is now against a rock. looks like he attached himself. maybe he'll stay there.

Not one of the easiest to keep ... keep an eye on it, but if it gets worse Id take it out!!

Injured foot? How? Its in the same spot from the night before and hasnt moved ... doesnt look good.

i tried to move it (with a net) right now and it's releasing an occasional haze. is that a bad sign?

don't know how it happend. just looks like a tear, maybe sharp rock or something.

It looks like guts to me and thats not a good sign!!! Im no expert. but have had a couple pass on it its similiar. The call is yours unless you still have the tub you could put it in there.

Yeah the mouth looks like it's innard are coming out. It's gonna have to go. Unless someone can chim in against it.

Doesn't look promising for survival to me? I would put in a QT tank if you have one. Otherwise watch for further deterioration and chunk it.

I had one that was way worse than that in a 12g nano cube and with many water changes I was able to nurse it back to health. Mine had already lost all of it's tentacles and it's mouth was wide open. It has since split and is huge again. This was in December due to a tank change.

Looks fine to me. Sometimes when they let go the foot will twist up looking for something to attach to. I can't see the mouth, but the tentacles look fine. Do you do your water changes on schedule? Halides and good flow are fine. By now it has probably re-attached to something and your realizing it is no problem. Anemones are very stressed by ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphates, so you must keep the water pristine. If you are nervous and just don't want it any more I'd be glad to take that nice healthy looking anemone off your hands... LOL.....

UPDATE...I put the anemone into a quatine tank and it died.....and stunk up my whole apartment. Don't know what happend to it, the pics I posted were in the early stages. It started getting worse. Thanks for everyone's input.
