I noticed today when I got home some red slime on some of my LR. When I try to remove it it breaks apart and there are some kind of gaseous bubbles trapped under the slime. What is this and what should I do about it?

cynobacteria!!!!

aim flow towards it or get something that munches on it, like cerith snails or hermits. Aiming the flow is thebest way, it likes to grow in low flow areas.

Sounds like its time to take a field trip and get some of those snails we talked about earlier in the week. thanks

The bubbles are oxygen.

ChemiClean is a temporary fixative...but it comes back. It would grow on my sandbed in low flow areas in my 100 gal...it's a pain.

Cyano also has a tendency to grow in the sand bed along the glass. Enough light gets conducted down through the glass itself to let it survive.
