Title says it all. Are any of you folks directly feeding your ricordias and zoos brine shrimp, cyclopeeze, DT's, etc..... I have heard mixed thoughts on this in the past and am curious what people are doing. Some have said that spot feeding zoos does nothing, but others have sworn that they reproduce better with spot feeding. Also, what about rics. Do you spot feed them?

I personnaly spot feed both rics and zoos. I feed them DT's, cyclopeeze, and brine shrimp.

What is everyone doing?

I think DT's is going to be to small for zoos. They're more interested in zooplankton like cyclopeeze, daphnia, oyster eggs, rotifers, or baby brine.

I spot feed our zoas cyclopeeze and rotifers (thawed frozen), and our blastomussa and sun coral likes cyclopeeze and mysis (P.E.) mix. Some zoas seem to eat better than others, but I still feed them all, and they multiply well.

I just put them in location where all the current throws the food at them :)

DT's is more likely to bed on by clams, scallops, feather dusters, coco worms, Christmas tree worms, and some filter feeding corals such as carnations and chili cactus.

A word of warning: Corals such as carnation really require a species tank with a constant drip of green water. I'd love to see someone do a carnation tank but it won't be simple.

I quit useing DT's because it cost too much. My tank seems to do better on the cyclopeeze. I usually feed a couple small doses per day, so it could be I over did the DT's also.

I used to with an eye dropper, but now just let them get what they get along with the sun coral and they are all doing fine.

Never do, just let them get what they can from the water column.

I started using a product that Richard turned me onto. Its a concentrated sludge of micro algae in glycerine. You just add a few drops into some SW, mix it up and feed to the tank. It's called Tahitian Blend. You store it in your freezer and it doesn't have the shelf life problems that DTs does. I am using the new DTs oyster eggs product.

Any comment on the oyster eggs yet?

Its hard to tell anything. I know a lot of my fish love them because they go crazy when I add them. Larry took some home and took a look at them under a microscope and he said they do look like eggs. I think they are like anything else that are in the zooplankton, and corals are going to eat them. I plan on continuing to use them as part of my mixture of zooplankton foods.
