overflow thing worked but maybe now its a skimmer?

Ok so in order to reduce the bubbles in my tank I built a thing for the overflow water to drain through. I filled it with LR rubble to help break up the bubbles and drilled the drain holes along the very bottom. Starting to foam on top almost as much as my skimmer does! I know my skimmer works good, its a PM and takes out lots of crap but guess my new thing is catching the water first so its doing the same thing. Hmmm hey its multi-tasking thing-a-majiger.

Yep, You built a skimmer. Interesting...using gravity as your pump.
