I have no idea what the rating would be.. its custom sized for my overly tall 40" stand. It has a footprint of 12"x12". I'm not sure if this is technically a dual beckett because its split into two instead of 2 seperate in's but I think the closest comparison would be this

I SK4220: 36" high x 13" x 10", dual Beckett (200-750 gallon systems) (http://barraquatic.com/super_skimmers.php)

if thats not right then it would an oversized version of this
SK1620: 32" high x 7" x 10" (100-500 gallon systems) (http://barraquatic.com/standard_skimmers.php)

I think it would be better for you to talk directly to ~pete~ about the cost... he's VERY REASONABLE and doesnt mind answering your questions. He's been very helpful to me so far!

Why would it make a difference where the split is at? At the pump with 2 ins or 1 out and 1 in? ;)

so is this what you would call a dual beckett? I really dont know, I'm just trying to sound like I do. I'm even not sure which is in and which is out!!! I assume the in is the tallest pvc tee just before it slits into the 2 "becketts". I would also assume the two small valves are there to control the air allowed into the mixture. I would further assume the out has the ball valve to adjust the flow. And to assume just a bit further I'd say the box is where the air and water fully mix and expand up the center tube where the protein will collect in the collection cup

thats all the assumptions I have for the moment!!!

Good assumptions!!! Its a gate valve at the out and yes it is there to control the water level. Most bubbles will hopefully be in the tube ;)

well from here on out its going to be called a dual beckett by me... that will sound cooler in my profile anyway :)

It IS a dual beckett, cuz it has "Two Becketts" - the becketts are where the air is injected into the water flow, similar to a venturi only better!

Mathias, you can buy a good name brand skimmer and let the company stand behind it, or one from Pete and let him stand behind you! Either way you will do fine, but Pete's are probably a lot cheaper and I imagine perform just as well.

Another option is the recirculation type skimmer like I bought (Pete wasn't around then)

But for a less than 500g system, I think the becketts are more cost effective, esp. if you can use an oversized return pump to drive the skimmer & return like Tim Marvin & Pete are doing.
