No, this isn't one of JimD's "What's This" puzzles, I really have no clue what this is?
About a week ago my Hammer developed a mysterious "bubble" in the middle of one of the colonies/branches and it has remained. It grows larger after the MHs switch off, these pics were taken with a flash.
Any clue as to what this is? Good, Bad, clueless??? :unsure

My frogspawn did the same thing. It went away eventually. Don't worry.

I was really hoping someone would tell me it was going to spawn or something, not that it would grow to enormous size, crawl out of the tank, and eat the dogs :o
