I dont have a R/O unit and get water down the street in 5g water jugs and add water in the morning and evenings to make up for evaporation. Usually about 1 1/2 gallons a day or less but when I am out of town its hard to get anyone to remember to add water until they see tiny bubbles everywhere in the tank then they remember but at that point it takes around 3 gallons to fill the sump back to normal level. So I took a 10g aquarium and set it out of the way in the back corner of my stand, small powerhead and some 1/2" hose and a few fittings, small float switch and a 8 pin relay and base and my own auto top off. Now it should be a simple matter of filling the 10g tank once a week which is simple enough and I am going to add a second float switch to operate a small flashing LED to let us know the make-up water tank is low. I dont trust the small float switches with any kind of current even though the small 100gph powerhead dosent pull much I used the float switch to close a NO relay to operate the pump. Less of a load on the float switch and it should last a long time. Few cheesy pictures of the relay and float switch:
