i have a 55 gallon glass hood tank with one heater. i set the heater but it turns off at like 76-78. i don't know how to get it higher. and the tank has no fans yet. if anything, how do i install one in the future if it gets too hot? do i need another heater?

I would look at another brand of heater. I believe mine will go up to 84. don't remember the brand off the top of my head. i thing its and ebojager. You can use a clipon desk fan for a quick inexpensive fix to heat issues.

I've got a heater in my wet/dry can't remeber the brand but it keeps my 75Gal at about 80 no problems, I may get another one later in the year just to reduce strain. It's got a dial on top to set temp and so far no problems, of course its only been running about a month.

Well, I *would* replace the heater if there's any suspicion whatsoever that it may have a problem. A failed heater can cause severe problems if it sticks in the "on" position.
