if your a newb and dont know what to look for then I'd really stay away from fintique... they gave me advice on a clam that was not only incorrect but was so far in the other direction that that poor clam never had a chance!
of course if I would have done my research before ordering none of it would have happened. I'm not trying to say that fintique is bad. As a matter of fact you can get great bargains. With that said I would recommend not even asking questions, if you dont know, you might be wise to assume they don't either.

Thats because Fintique does not specialize in saltwater, its like going to Aquatic Warehouse and ask them about guppies, if you go to fintique its because you already have in mind what you are looking for, and they might have it cheaper.

I will admit to have bought many items from Fintique over the years and they are still my favorite place for most food. However, there is a reason the fish are cheap. Remember that most LFS have a very high loss rate on shipments. In most cases they get a refund from the wholesaler. Its better financially for the LFS if it dies in your tank than in theirs.
Like I said, I've gotten some good deals there, but I have also lost a lot of fish too. They are using a much better wholesale now (Critters of the Sea) than they used to. A lot of the stuff they used to get was coming from the Phillipines. Those of you that have been in the hobby for a while know what that means. Even the critters coming from the Phillipines are better quality than they used to be.
I'm glad their shipment gets wiped out early in the day now. Holding livestock any longer than necessary isn't really a good idea. It could have already been in the bag for up to 24 hrs. In addition, being sloshed around in the bag every time someone comes in to look at a fish can't be good either. There is one advantage to buying on bag day. There is basically only one trauma event for the the critter, rather than being bagged and transported twice within a couple of days.
My advice is let the buyer beware. I know there is a huge temptation to get in on a good deal, but I have found that in the long run I am better off financially by paying a higher price for a fish that has a better chance of survival.

I love a good Mysid Po-Boy. Not to mention the squid for calamari.

I would have to agree with you all about Fintique.
We bought our tank there a few months ago and we were newbies. The recomended a 30 gallon odyssea all in 1 for our budget, ran about $250. Well according to the other LFS now trying to track down a replacement for my defective canopy lights, there have been lots of problems with the 30 gallon size from that brand.
so if you know what you want already go for it....but if you don't know, go to another fish store and ask questions.
