Ok, I have a remora pro skimmer, and plan on buying a really nice replacement for it around december or so, until then, I was thinking of buying a use remora pro to augment the first one...
do you think my money is better spend saving for the new skimmer (probably a deltec clone) or will the 2nd remora pro give me enough benefit to warrant it's purchase in the mean time.
My gut says just save my money and wait..

I would go with your gut. What would you do with two used skimmers, unless you are planning on using them on other tanks, then it might be worth it. Otherwise put the funds into the new skimmer.

Save your money, if your worried do a water change or two. I run my tanks skimmerless right now, and only one uses a skimmer anyway.

If your tank can take the additional heat, upgrade the pump on your skimmer instead of buying a whole another skimmer. When you're asking question about skimmer load, please specifiy your tank's parameter such as size and number of fishes, feeding habits, etc.

It's an interesting question, if two smaller skimmers will perform as well as one big skimmer? While comtemplating skimmers for my 240g I thought about going with two medium sized Euroreefs instead of one large one. This was due to the smaller ones being more easily found for sale used and also they would be shorter in height and would fit under a stand better. I've never really heard of anyone doing this though and I found a good deal on a 12-2 so I'll never get to test the idea out either!
