I was looking around and saw a Excailbur I think they are call KNOP after the name cahange. It is a HOB and I was wondering if any one has any experience with them. I was looking at the Remora with maxijet 1200 upgrade as well but heard htey were a little hard to adjust as well as a little noisy. I will be moving it to the sump/refugium when I get it built some time in December or January. Is there any other HOB skimmers out there that would work as well. I have a friend that has a CPR RR and he says that is is a POS and don't get one. Any way thanks for the information.

I have the urchin which is the sump version of the remora. It is basically plug n' play: plug it in and it works. There is no further adjustment, although you can lower and raise the collection cup to control how much skimmate you get. It has very little noise, and if you have it in the sump area you probably won't be able to hear it at all.

I have an AquaMedic Turboflotor T1000, Its a great skimmer..although a bit tricky to adjust. You need an overflow into the skimmer. i have an oceanrunner 2500 running it, good pump, quiet too.. then the water come out 2 pipes, into a box with bio-balls, which kill the tiny bubbles so your sump doesnt get full of them and get sucked into the main tank..you can put whatever you want in that box, carbon etc..great skimmer..best iver ever seen..

I'll offer another vote for the Urchin. However on retrospect, I wish I'd gotten the Urchin pro. I'm getting ready to upgrade my system, and the urchin might not be enough skimmer once I get done with the change-over. I'll have to see then. Overall, I've been really pleased with it, though.

Was wondering how the Precision Marine series skimmers were? Are the pretty good skimmers? Anyone have experience with these? Your thoughts are appreciated.

I have a PM skimmer, though it came from ebay and the only info I have on it was from PM email that said it was custom made for some lfs in michigan or something. Anyways it works great, built solid, and pulls lots of gunk.

Been wondering how that was working for you? You bought it not long ago, right? I have a TF 5K and love it. Is the 1K also a recirculation (closed loop) with venturi type design? I like the concept of pushing a lower volume through the reaction chamber and giving the skimmer time to work on it!
Post some pics of the 1K in action :D
