Went and picked up a few pices of LR at CB today. They had some cool stuff. If you buy over 40 lbs the price drops to $3.75 lb, which isn't too terrible. They have some carribean and fiji. Here are some pics of the stuff I had and the new stuff.

Very COOL pieces! It is hard to find large pieces with good shapes. A good mix of shelf and Fiji looks awesome! Great score!

ansoluna, when we got that rock in, I believe Mark said the shelf rock is actually from Tonga, there were a couple pieces with some gorgeous coraline on it, some of them were about 2 ft long.. very very nice. It has been curing for 4 weeks.

Yeah I was told by the girl that works there that it was Tonga, but I have about 55 lbs of Carribean from duc and it looks exactly like that rock. So who knows, I got a good deal and some nice pieces :lol , gonna have to balance my chk book and see if I can go back. Thats only about half my tank.

I have bought quite a bit of rock from CB and have always been very happy with the quality and price. They run a good operation.

Reef69 - I think the prices depend on the type of rock they have in stock. Sometimes they have more than just Fiji. Also, I think you get a better rate if you buy it by the box.

Call Richard at CB and see what his breakpoints are for discounts. I think they are in the sponsors section. If not, their web site is www.cbpets.com

3.75 per lb over 40lbs... not sure what the price is under 40. Oh, and that is the price for cured rock.

i think it was like 4.50 or .75 by just the pound which is still cheaper than any other place here in san antonio. you can't beat that with a stick because it's cured also.

ram - are there certain days that you put new rock into that tank? i need some more and want to get prime selection.

I bought ALL my rock from CB's! Richard was GREAT and the rock is the best I've ever gotten, and the cheapest too! Tons of life in it! I couldn't be happier! Plan on getting some more soon!

We don't have any particular schedule for ordering rock. Right now I have a a 180 with 15 boxes of fiji in it plus a 55 full of super cured rock from our old coral tanks. That's all not for sale at the moment as I need it to do the rockwork for our new coral tanks.

We just got water in both of them so I will being doing the rockwork this week and the rest will go for sale by the weekend if all goes as planned. Also, Mark just tore down another SW rack today and all of that rock went into the for sale tank. That stuff is super cured (at least a year) and lots of coralline. He said he already sold some so I don't no what's left.

Also that rock was a caribean rock. It went from "kinda looks like a tonga shelf rock" to "it's tonga". Sorry bout the mix up. It's a nice rock, very unique shapes. My 215 is done almost entirely with it.
