Actually, I was thinking for a 29 inch high tank that's going to be a little low on light.

I know most 29" SPS tanks have to use 400 watt bulbs. The DE's are a little more efficient than the Moguls.

I agree with Gary. For a 29" tall tank I would definitly go with 250W DE's as they are going to have better penetration then the SE's. If you want to go with SE's I would reccomend moving up to 400W bulbs.

I would agree, 3 400W SE's or even some of the new 400W DE's.
The least I would try and run would be 3 250W DE's.

You could probably get by plenty fine if you wanted really yellow lights in 250W SE's, either the XM 10000K or Iwasaki 6500K.. they both put out more light than most if not all other bulbs.... if you really want to get technical there is a comprehensive 250W light test on RC... search for the user JBNY and posts containing 250W.
