so, i got this sweet BTA a couple weeks ago, and it hasn't settled into a spot yet. does this usually take awhile? i've had anemones before, but never had one move around so much. it's been eating, and deffinately getting enough light. i have to search it out every morning and afternoon just to keep track of it. i was wanting to add a pair of percs, but wondered if i should wait till the anemone settles in first. or might the clowns help in some way? the anemone still opens up really nice when it's not moving around, and takes food whenever offered.

I don't know that the percs would help, and I think the only reason they 'travel' being light is a misnomer as well, they are searching for a place with desireable flow, and I also believe temperature plays a part in it, when my tank over heated, the anemone went for several trips.

that's interesting, the temp has been getting a little high lately. we've had the ac off, and with the humidity being high. my halides are new, so i'm just getting started with this whole heat issue thing.

Mine still moves quite a bit! He stayed positioned where I placed him for about 2 weeks, now he is everywhere including my powerhead as of last night! (see my thread!) Maybe he learned his lesson? DOUBT IT! :lol

I don't know why some move and some don't. I have had mine for almost 2 years and he only moved 1 time right after I got him. I have even scooted the rock he is attached to over a few inches recently and he is still in the same spot. My guess would be he will find the right spot and be there for a while.

Well, while incredibly beautiful and somewhat timeless, Anemones are not much more than sea water, flesh, and a few nerves... I think we can assume the process of finding a nice spot goes something like this.
If Light OK = No then Move
If Light Ok = Yes then Check Flow
If Flow OK = No then Move
If Light Ok = Yes then Check Flow
If Flow OK = Yes then Check Temperature
and so on and so forth, on to "can I stick my foot in a nice deep crack and feel safe here?"
basically, all things being said, if your anemone likes the spot and doesn't object to the change a 2 inch movement in his home brings, and all other conditions are optimal, it will probably continue to hang out.
