Is minced garlic ok to give the damsels cycling my tank. I moved them to the big tank and they have ich. Also, I should stay away from treating tank w/anti ick meds right?

Is there any way you can post a pic? I didn't think damsels were all that prone to getting ich... :unsure

Tim Marvin said he's had fish that have eaten little pieces of minced garlic and seem to like it...should be OK. I got some of the Garlic Xtreme at River City Aquatics, and my fish really seem to like it.

I most definitely would NOT put meds of any kind in your display tank. Do you have/have access to a quarentine tank? That would be your best option.

it's been really tramaic for them. they were in a 45 gal tub, and i just finished the plumbing on my 125, so it was a bad situation for them. im charging the batts right now, pics momentarilly.

Soak their food in the garlic and feed them the mixture.

well i guess it worked. chk the fish this morning that they were completely clear of ick. at first I mixed very small squashed pieces with their food, then I tried a few minced pieces in there whole and they ate 'em up...although i think they will eat anything. i could probably throw whole jalapenos in there and they'd tear into them.

remember that ich has a life scycle, it could have dropped off naturally. I would continue feeding with garlic for a couple weeks ot make sure the problem is truly in hand.
