I'm looking for probably a 2 3/8" bit. If I can't find one, I'll have to buy one, and I'd rather not spend the bucks on something that I plan on using twice.

Any thoughts?

If you don't want to spend the money on the drill bit, take it somewhere to get it drilled. For only two holes, I think the price of the drill bit will be the same as paying someone else to do it for you.

Check with Pete, he was talking about starting to drill. I'm not sure what his status is on that.

There is a significant difference between a $20 bit and a $159 dollar bit and its not the price. A $20 bit is basically a disposable. Drill a hole or two and its ruined. Some places carry both the cheap line and the good line so you can see the difference. A good bit goes right through and cheap one may take a while or if the glass is real thick, may not last long enough to get through without cracking the glass. Best results might be had from getting the holes done by someone and suck it up.

Larry got that right and even the expensive ones are only good for a set amount of cuts.

It doesn't matter if you buy the most expensive hole saws you can find, if you don't use them properly, they will wear out just as fast as the "cheapy" ones. I purchased my two hole saws (3in. and 1.5in.) from here: www.shopsmartxpress.com/AmeriGls/MAIN.htm

They are not the cheapest and not the most expensive either. I've drilled 4 holes with the big one and another 12 with the smaller one. They both look just as good as when I got them. If you are going to do it yourself, check around and read up on the best ways to use the hole saws so you don't wear them out or ruin your glass tank.
