Today I went by Alamo Aquatics to browse around, and I was extremely impressed to see the condition of their reef tanks :D , and the obvious hard work that Jason Taylor has put into the setup. It has been a while since I've been there and the quality of their specimens have improved leaps and bounds over what I remember.... Every coral in the tank had beautiful polyp extension, and they were thriving not just surviving. I also noticed all of the tanks were flatworm free..... :) Anyone with flatworms knows how hard it is to get rid of that Plague. :?
Great Job Guys!!! Keep it up..... ;)

Glad to hear they are doing well. I used to make the rounds between all the LFS and like most stores they were hit and miss at times. I have bought fish, corals, and live rock there in the past with no complaints and always go there for their large selection of frozen foods. Once I get my new tank up and running I'll have to start making my rounds again! :-)

I stopped by the other day also to grab a couple items and I have to agree with Troy. The selection wasnt great, but what was there looked good. I was also "asked" at the register if I was a Maast member and given a 10% discount!!!!

Ummmmm, maybe, just maybe, it might have something to do with a certain 6ft tall piece of equipment in the back room? Now what could I possible be referring to?

Even with 10% off, I don't think I could afford that 6ft. piece of equipment they apparently have in the back! lol

I go by Alamo a lot since they are close to my house. They almost always remember my MAAST 10% discount before I ask. I agree their coral section has improved a great deal. I have always done a great deal of business at AA (even in my freshwater days) and have never had any serious problems - in general friendly & helpful.
But I still find an excuse to visit my other three "favorite" LFSs on a regular basis :-D

I had no idea that there were more LFSs than AlamoAq, Fintique, and TxTropMar...
I was just told about this site... and I can see myself researching more and more here.
AlamoAq has always been my fav, but I can't ever get there on Tuesdays for their shipments. But Friday afternoons are definitely nice @ TxTropMarine.
trujillo, thx... back at ya with that 45th post; very saucy!

Definitely an awesome store. I didn't notice you mentioning Aquatic Warehouse either, and they are also a great place to check out.
BTW....Welcome to MAAST ;)

The other good one to check out, again if you are up for a drive, is CB Pets in Bulverde. They are remodeling their salt water tanks right now and don't have a huge amount of livestock, but they are worth the trip. They carry a lot of dry goods you won't find anywhere else in the SA area.
I'm glad to see there have been some improvements at AA. I was one of their first customers when Eddie and Jeff first opened on West Ave. One of our members has been doing some electrical work over there and I heard they have upgraded their lights.
