I figured out why my PanWorld 100pxx stopped working.
Got a snail sucked into it and broke all the teeth off except one.
Where would I buy a replacement.
It is the barrell that rides inside the other magnet that has the teeth attached to it.
Please advise.

Mike, I would send an EMail to the vendor where you bought it (Premium Aquatics?) and see if they can get one for you?
I did a search on the web and didn't turn up anything. Unless Iwaki impellers wll fit? Custom Aquatics has Iwaki impellers on their site.

Any other thoughts on replacement parts for a panworld?

Ok Mike, ****it, you jinked me!!!
In the last 24 hours I have had two PW 100 PXX's "Stop Pumping"
I don't believe either one could have any impeller damage, both started pumping after I cycled power???
I plan to service all my pumps and look for clues.

Mine has done the same thing. I just cleaned it out with some vinegar and it worked like a champ after that. I think the tolerances are pretty tight and it only takes a little debris, bacteria growth of scale to stop it from turning.

That's what I hope to find when I open mine up!

I'm sure you will. We need to find a source for parts though. It would be a good idea to keep a spare impellor.

I have disassembled & cleaned 2 of 7 PanWorld pumps. I am amazed they were still running at all! Calcium deposits were VERY thick, esp on my main return pump (200PS) - They are working MUCH better now! I hadn't realized how much the flow had degraded! Guess I need to put this on my frequent maintenance list?

What do you guys use for screens to prevent snails getting in?
It has to be something pretty open, I already tried a mess filter bag and it stopped up and overflowed the sump.

Mike, I don't use anything in the sump, just an open bulkhead, but I don't have anything in the sump but water now that I removed the LR. For the closed loops, I am using one of these:

Probably the best source for Panworld parts would be Champion Lighting. They were the first to import them under the Blueline HD name. I've heard somewhere that iwaki impellers will fit, but I WOULD NOT count on it. Impellers get chewed up all the time, i'm sure Champion or Premium has them. Watch out though, if they're like iwaki impellers, they're pretty expensive.

All 7 cleaned and no busted impeller parts, just LOTS of calcium deposits. Didn't see any impeller replacement parts on Champion's site or elsewhere?
So, my wife asked why are they getting calcium deposits when we take the calcium out with the RO/DI unit? So I said, we add Calcium back in with salt mix, Kalk, etc. :?: She said, doesn't that seem kind of dumb to you?
... So I found myself in that awkard situation where all I could say was, "Its more complicated than that"
Does seem like we go through lots of trouble "making" water :?

Dan,
I put a filter bag on the fuge exit line trying to keep macro and small stuff out of the main tank......and it clogged and overflowed....
Dumb thought of mine......
good thing I was in the room....
By the way, I have your tang heaven....

Steve,
I've wrestled with the same problem. Sometimes it seems like using RO water is like throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Well, I pushed this thread way of track ... oh well!
SA has GREAT water! I used tap water in my old reef tank for the first 9 months or so and it did great! Then my TDS go so high I couldn't get a valid reading with a Salifert Ca test kit. I was warned about the tank "crashing", so I converted over to RO/DI and did a few massive water changes.
If we could just find a RO/DI-Ca filtration system, we would have it made!!!!

I always wondered about the possibility of treating tap water with carbon and phosphate absorber as an alternative to RO.
