I was actually wanting the micro hermits 5 for $1...... But how big are the regular hermits?
Ram_Puppy
Fri, 21st Jan 2005, 11:14 AM
MIke, the electric oranges Sam sells are Calcinus Elegans, they have an approximate 2 year lifespan from what i have heard, and are excellent algal grazers, one VERY COOL hermit. That being said, you don't want 20 of them, they can get a little territorial. ( had 4 when I started my 30 hex and they killed each other, not much space in that tiny tank though.
Don't be scared off by them, they are GORGEOUS. The little micro hermits, also known as dwarf zebras, are IMHO, the best hermit in the reef trade right now, they eat tons of stuff and don't seem to be as opportunistic as the others.
I updated my earlier post to reflect the new numbers.

Payment is needed by the time we finalize the order. I'm thinking the Austin order will be finalized by the first or second week in February (unless the order is just too large, then we may cut it off sooner). Payments will be via PayPal directly to Sam.

All right Austinites...let's give Sam some biz!! The more we have jump in on this wonderful deal, the better shipping costs for each of us will be. In case any of you are hesitant about the Gracilaria, trust me, your tangs will literally *flip* for this stuff. I've done a lot of reading on this particular macro in the past few weeks, and it is not only extreeeeemly attractive to them as far as taste, but it is probably the most healthy macro availb. Just read the testimonials on IPSF! Anybody that has fed this to their tangs will tell you the same. Gracilaria Parvispora = plump, happy, healthy tangs and Sam is bringing this to us at an *excellent* price! Not to mention all the other wonderful inverts, fish, and plants he offers. Are we gonna let the S. Ant. folks show us up? ;)
Wendy
Oh - Sam...BTW, I will be adding more to my order for a friend as soon as he decides what he wants. I'll post as soon as I know. Also, could you post your PayPal addy when we're all ready to place the order?
Thanks!
OK - friend has confirmed, so add three mangrove pods, 12 Pacific turbo snails, and an additional 1/2 pound of OGO (totalling a pound and a half of macro for my order).
*****Another update for my order: Please add 12 nerite snails to the above. Thanks ;) ***************

For those people who are ordering :
Is anyone interested in some nice 1 1/2" to 3" spiny sea urchins ?
There are some with a slight yellowish hew and some with a pinkish hew ....
I'm willing to ship 2 or 3 of them to whomever wants them.
What's the catch you ask ?
I havn't had a sea urchin survive the shipping process.
With all the improvements made in my shipping process, I would like to see how these ship now.
If they survive, I will put them up for sale.
Also, does anyone want to try out a type of scavening drupe snail ?
(check out the pic in the Zenreef retail thread)
Drupes are primarily preditory snails, feeding on clams and other snails.
These drupes however, are primarily scavengers. I believe they will behave very much like nassarious snails. They won't be usefull as sand sturers, but I bet they will be great at eating all you detritous. I find these guys in the algae flats in fairly large numbers. I bet they also eat Algaa as weill ... a true scavenger ....
willing to ship out 3 of 4 small bags of them to whom ever wants to try them out. These guys are free ... so don't blame me if my observations are incorrect and they end up eating your snails ;-) I truely believe this won't happen ... but hey ... I'm (was) an electrical engineer, not a marine biologist. (Actually, all I'm missing is a piece of paper (diploma). I make a far better marine biologist than an electrical engineer. but I digress ...
let me know if anyone is interested ...

a knarly storm swept buy which caused a traffic accident and had me sitting in rainy traffic for hours .....
So much for the short transit time of a direct Dallas Flight. I was lucky to get to the airport to get it out last night. Hope no one is put out too much .....
Thank you Denise for putting everything together !!!!
I hope everyone is happy with there order....
Everything is guarenteed. So no worries ....
life is good ....

So what's the plan Denise? Are you going to be able to keep everything warm tonight, or do we need to come and get everything?

Denise: Thank you very much for offering to pick up the order for us that late. Going to the airport and driving back at that late hour is not easy. Also thank you for taking it to Chris & Wendy's house to seperate and check all the bags. That made it easier for us to pick up. Thank you, Thank you ;)
Sam: I checked every bag carefully to make sure everything I ordered was here. I even got the chance to use my old magnifying glass to count my all 25 Micro Lefthand zebra hermits. It took a while but they all were there. I was surprise how big they look under the magnifying glass. :-D :-D :-D
I did have some losses on the turbo and nerite snails(I will pm you on that).
The sea urchin made the trip okay. He or she is beautifull..Thank you, Thank you
Chris & Wendy: Thank you for staying up so late to help Denise with the order and been the pick up house for the order. I know it was late and you both showed a very unselfish spirit and willigness to help Denise get the order ready to be picked up by us.(or it was because you both wanted to go to sleep :-D ) ;)
Thank you to all of you for doing I know it was not easy. Thank you.

Sam,
Do you want me to PM you with my DOA's? None of the hermits made it along with a few others.
Also have another problem if any has any suggestions. One of the orange leg hermits made his home in a rock that was in the bag with them and the rock weighs more than what the hermit can luft and move. Any idea how to try to get him out and back in to his original shell? I have that one in my sump till I figure out what to do, otherwise I'm sure he'll die cause he can't move.
