Hello,
I haven't posted in a long time... I'm still trying to set up my tank-if its not one thing its another :x I bought a bucket of Oceanic salt at Alamo Aquatics. I've heard some bad reviews regarding this brand-algea problems- What are your experiences? I want to know before I filler up so I can exchange it if I need to. Thanks

IMO algae problems are not caused by oceanic salt. I have been using it for almost a year now and I have ZERO algae

Oceanic makes awesome salt. IMO the best on the market, and I have tried them all.

Thanks, guys! I guess I will keep it. Does mixing salts cause problems?

I have heard it can, but I have mixed Oceanic with instant ocean with no problem. I have also mixed it with Fritz salt, and a combination of the three.

I too like oceanic, I have heard nothing but wonderful things about Tropic Marin Reef Pro (I think that's the name) but it's not widely available, and I hear it costs about 130.00 for a 200 gallon bucket, why would I spend that much if oceanic does such a great job!?!?!?

I have used Oceanic since it was introduced on the market - much better solubility(sp?) and water parameters (DkH, Ca) are much improved.

I tried Oceanic when it was introduced including the free 5gal packet and have used it for over 1yr. I can only say good about it and I save money not needing to suppliment everything that is missing in comparably priced salts.
