I have a 110 g tank. Right now I have the following fish:

1 2" Regal Blue Tang
1 4" Double Bar Rabbit fish
1 1" Neon Goby
2 2" and 3" False Perc Clowns
3 1" to 2" Green Chromises

I was thinking about getting another fish. Out side of the clowns and rabbit fish, all my fish pretty much stay hidden.

I was hoping to get a fish with some personality, like a flame hawkfish, but I don't really like how he eats anything he can get in his mouth.

I really like my regal tang when he is out, but he is pretty shy. He is still under 2" long.

I may try to get rid of the chromies... they really don't come out much. They will school some in the morning and then it is hide and go seek the rest of the day.

Is there any other fish that has some personality that won't hide... or am I pretty much maxed out on fish load?

What do ya'll suggest?

The Clowns are always out front with the rabbit fish ( they currently are hosting a huge Xenia ) but all my other fish are hidden 80% of the time. I do think some shrimp would be good. I had a blook shrimp, but something happened to him.

I thought about a Blenny. Do they hide much? I wish they had more color.

I LOVE blennies, they are the best. 'Course, I also like hawks, even if they do make lunch out of my shrimp all of the time!

Butterflies are normally "out there" type fish.

Fairy Wrasses are colorful, and ours seems to stay out in the front area of the tank a lot. Just a thought. :D

I wonder if anyone else has had chromies that hide. When we had our FOWLR 135G, our chromies were constantly schooling somewhere in the upper 1/3 of the tank - almost always in view. Odd that yours don't....? I also loved the hawkfish we had then too, but I don't think I would put one in a reef tank simply because they perch on everything, and would probably irritate the corals.

How about another surgeonfish?

Most of them are big swimmers and might draw your Blue out more.

My 2 chromis hide all day. Feeding time they eat and go back to there hiding spots. Had a Lawnmower blenny once that would "dance" for you when you lookin at the tank. Maybe not pretty but quite entertaning.

Bicolor blenny has a great personality. The eyebrows are cute too.

Here's what I would probably add if it were mine. All nice fish and would make you other fish feel comfortable enough to start coming out of the rockwork. 6 ft tank right?

1 Midas Blenny - the coolest of all blennies! MUCHO personality! And swims around alot.
3 Scissortail Gobies
1 Tricolor Fairy Wrasse
1 Velvet Wrasse
1 Yellow Coris
1 Red Flasher Fairy wrasse
1 Yellow Candy Hogfish
1 royal gramma or the black cap basslet

I was just about to say the same thing. There are so many different tyes of small reef safe wrasses. Some are rare and expensive but some are not. I really like flasher wrasses. Also, my favorite fish, and the most beautiful fish IMO, is a Bartlet's Anthias. I have 4 that are always in front. Awesome fish. Anyway, wrasses and anthias IMO.

Wow...that's a gorgeous fish! Where did you get it, online or a LFS?

Steve, that is an awsome looking fish!

Do Anthias do better in schools?

Do you think I could get 3 Anthias or would that be too much for my tank?

Do Anthias do better in schools?

From what I've been reading, it seems that they do. I would like to get more info on the anthias that Steve has, although we wouldn't even be able to consider more fish at this point until we upgrade our tank size. Also, it seems that quite a few of this species are deep water fish, and will only do well in colder tanks with "dimmer" lighting...IOW, no halides. We've got the colder part covered as we have a chiller, but I wouldn't want to give up the light intensity due to the corals. I would imagine your tank is big enough for three. It will probably depend on which type you decide you want.

Steve- Do you have a link to some info on that fish?

Almost all of my fish are ordered through Felipe @ Fin-Addict. I have been going through his list daily. I fish put all the Anthias and Wrasses in on the same day. I do special orders w/ Felipe so I just pick them up in the bags when he gets them. The upside is less stress on the fish. The downside is that I never get to see them in an LFS tank and see if they are the best specimens. The other upside is that I get fish that he will not order to put in his tanks to sell to the general public. Most LFS do not get the more expensive fish. My problem is that I like rare beautiful fish and those are more expensive. So a while back when I wanted to order all of my Anthias I look at all the Anthias and Wrasses on the list for that day. I saw the Bimaculatus and looked him up online. I saw the picture and found a little reading and decided to give him a try. And I am glad I did. And Felipe call the distributor and they said he was awesome which he is for sure. On the day I added him I also added 4 Bartlet’s Anthias, 2 Hawaiian Bicolor, and an Exquisite Wrasse. The Exquisite Wrasse is beautiful but has had to move to the refugium after jumping out of the display 3 times. Dang wrasse.

Do Anthias do better in schools?

Yes, some do. You just have to read up. The Bimaculatus I have seems to like being by himself but I really do not know much about him.

Do you think I could get 3 Anthias or would that be too much for my tank?

Yes, you can probably do 3. I would recommend 3 Bartlet’s or 1 Bimaculatus. The Bartlet’s do not get as big as the Bimaculatus.

Bryan, you decide on anything?

Yeah, I decided to talk to Carlos to see if he can get me some Anthias, a flasher wrasse or a midas blenny. I will see what his prices are and then make a decision.

I'm leaning toward the Anthias. I really like the color they have, and if they swim around the tank, and stay out, I think they would be an awsome addition.

I would say, go for a niger trigger, or similar trigger. Once they get comfortable with the tank, they love to swim....
