I went and got a nice maroon clown from Aquatek on Tuesday to replace the saddleback clowns I lost in an "incident" in my main tank. Well when I put the maroon in the tank, after acclimatting for like 4 hours, the maroon went staright for my rose bubble tip anemone.

The thing is, he's never really left the RBTA since then!! I know it may just be getting use to its new digs, but just curious how long they usually take to acclimate??

I've got a yellow tang and a coral beauty in the tank with it, they don't seem to be harassing the clown...but it hasn't got more than a few inches from the RBTA since I've put him in the tank. The clown doesn't seem stressted, it has eaten some mysis I've put in the tank. Its just very curious it hasn't wanted to leave the anomone yet.....

Brian-

I really wouldn't worry about the clown. As long as he/she is eating well, that's the most important thing. When I add a new fish to the tank, it seems that it takes about a week before they are more relaxed and comfortable in their surroundings. I'm sure your clown just feels safer in the RBTA for now. Can you post a pic? How is the clown breathing? Slow and normal, or does it appear to be "panting"? Keep a close eye on the breathing and also on the body and fins of the fish for any signs of disease... ;)

i wouldn't worry about it. i got a maroon clown from rampuppy a while back and it took him a couple of days to get used to the tank and now he's pretty much in charged of the tank. he even bullies my koran angel around.

Not really worried, just curious that it went straight to the RBTA. Its breath ing seems normal, doesn't seem fast like its stressed. It even hangs out in the RBTA when it contracts to expel. Is curious....

She will start to venture out a little bit, but most of the time, she will be within 6" or so of the anemone. You should feel lucky that she took to the anemone that quick. Alot of people complain that their clowns never want anything to do with one.

Sounds happy to me.

Mine stayed in the RBTA for about two weeks before venturing out. Then it never really got more than about 6 to 8 inches away from it. I had to make sure that food was getting down to it. Then the RBTA died and it tied to nest in my Frog Spawn, that didn't work out too well...

By the way Tim Marvin (new owner of my clown) how is it doing?

Glad to hear she is doing fine Cailan, if you put an anemone in with her, she will host it almost immediately, she used to have a RBTA.
