Ok I once again changed my mind on tanks. I was looking into the Nano Cube DX until I saw one set up Little to small for me I think. I was looking into the Oceanic Cube and I like the shape and size of it. However I was wondering what type of filtration I would need on it. I am planning on DIYing a hood with 2X96 power quads 50/50 and an additional 1X36 actinic 03 for dawn/dusk as well with fans for cooling. Anyone is welcome to correct me at anytime and give some consturtive critisisum(spelling is off I am sure) I am keeping this in my office so I am kind of staying away from sump for the leaking and overflow problems if I have to go out of town but it is not out of the question. I would just like to hear what everyone else is doing or would do if they had the chance to start over. BTW I plan on keeping soft corals mostly but I like the idea of being able keep other things it is all about flexibility of the system and of the wallet. I appreciate the comments and thank you in advance.

Ditch the powerquad and go for HQI. Get the 150Watts Aqualight HQI hood with 2x55Watts Atinic PowerCompact, or other brand of HQI that are available out there. If you don't use to use the HQI for now, you can run the 2x55Watts PC by itself.

I have a 42g cube that I run two CPR BakPaks on. It works well. I kept my 20g for about 3 years with a single bakpak. I would recommend this or a remora hang on.

did you drill your tank for the plumbing? How do you have the HOB skimmer set and what brand is it.

TexasState the only reasonI said powerquads is that I already have them. I was designing and building a hood for a friend and he didn't want it anymore so it was sort of given to me in sorts as he never came by and got it. They have been with me for about 11/2 years now that I am getting back into SW I figured I would put them to use. I appreciate the heads up i might just do the MH after all I am not sure.

Does anyone see any problems with using 2X96 powerquads 5050 with an additional 1X36watt actinic. Everything that I have read it seems to be enough lighting to support most softies even possibly some LPS. I like all corals but with just getting into the reef part of SW I want to keep it as uncomplicated as possible for now. But with the best intentions of my inhabitants. I think once I get everything going I will upgrade the lighting. The next questin is do you think that a closed loop with out a wave maker will be adequate for circulation with at Mag5 as the pump or do i need to get a larger pump?
