My pump just went out on me...(why do things always stop working only minutes after the LFS closes?) I have 2 air pumps with air stones in my tank right now. How long do I have before I need to start worring? Anyone have one I can borrow tonight?

Thanks,
Mike

You should be OK to get through the night.

Mike, how big a pump are we talking here, your return pump?

If you want to drive down to get it, You can borrow one of my Iwaki MD-70RLT's. They are 1600 GPH. Once you get your new pump in, you can just bring it to the MAAST meeting later this month.

Thanks Ram, but I think that might be a bit much. Its a nano tank LOL. That would be a sight to see. My clown holding onto a rock for dear life. It was a mini-jet, the only pump in my tank. I unplugged it to drain some water out, and when I plugged it back in, it was a no go. Thanks though.

Mike, did you clean the pump? It could just need a good cleaning.

I took it down to as many pieces as I could without getting out the hammer, and scrubbed everyone of them. I even soaked it in vinager. When I plug it in you can hear it humming, but nothing happens. I borrowed a pump from PsychFish13 so a big thanks to him. I will probably mess with it alittle more tomorrow when my brain isnt so fried.

Thanks, Mike

MIke, I have a spare minijet as well. :) I rather far away though, you'd probably spend more in gas getting it from me.

I had the same thing happen with a mag once, suprisingly, and I did everything you did to no avail. here is what I did.

I went to HEB and bought a 2 gallon jug of vinegar, poured it into a big soup pot and boiled it up nice and hot, and removed it from heat to another burner, let it cool for a minute. When I put the mag drive parts (all of them) to this nice warm vinegar, I was amazed, it was like watching an alkeseltzer tablet explosion, and I thought they were clean, if you can pull the ceramic shaft out of the magnet, all the better. I bet you can get it started again.
