Its probably needs backflushed, so how do I do it?

You need to bypass the flow restrictor, you can get a flush kit just about anywhere online. Actually, youre not "backflushing" as opposed to just flushing the filters, theres no change in water flow direction, just speed.

So do I still alow water to flow through the filter when flushing, or do I need to block off the output of the filter so that water just flows past it to flush it?

Also, how often(in general) should this be done.

Yeah, let the water flow through the unit normaly, no need to block the output. Once you bypass the restrictor, the water wll take the path of least resistance. I flush mine every 2-3 usages for about ten minutes. Havent had to replace my RO membrane in almost three years, TDS = 0
