I'm having trouble installing my scwd I got for Christmas. According to the directions, I'm supposed to install it hanging from the middle, back of the tank. Because I have a large, 10" wide centerbrace in the middle of my 48" tank, I can't install it as recommended. I was thinking that I could place the scwd offset the left or right to get around the obstacle. What do you think? Will it work or should I try something else? thanks

Add more hose, this should keep a nicer flow than it being on oneside. It will work either way I would think the middle is best. They really alternate the current.

Moors,
Same situation here. This is how I dealt with the problem.
I started freaking out about whether or not the hose would stay in the tank so I hard plumbed instead. Works great this way.

I don't believe placement of the SCWD makes a bit of difference, put wherever it works best for you. The length of tube/pipe from each output will not impact the SCWD performance. I have about 2' of tubing out one output and 4' on the other - no problem. I think you could even mount it at the output of the pump, and run the tube/pipe outputs up & over the sides of the tank if that works best for you.

Either way will work fine. They switch from one side to the other so placement of the unit will not make a difference.

Thanks, all. I'm off to the hardware store to buy the tubing. Hope I get it right the first time. I'll keep y'all posted. Oh, yeah, and this is my 200th post! whew hoo!!!
