Umm, it looks good, but how does that thing work? I can't figure out the water or CO2 flow from looking at it, lol

water comesin though top of the cross. CO2 comes in though the bubble counter. Spray bar isnt in yet, but water is pumped up from bottom, out top, recircs. Some goes out the 1/4 JG fit on top to bottom of second chamber. Effluent out is the needle vale on top of the left chamber.

Alex
Did you glue it up?

not yet. Need to build the spraybar still, and finalize pump location. Everything is drilled and tapped, and O rings are in. Need to polish the edges too.

so does the spray bar have a cap at the bottom so that the water flows only through the holes in the bar or does it flow all the way through? Any pictures of how the spray bar works and how it's setup. Awesome job by the way. I'm hoping ot building me one sometime soon.

Alex,

I'm trying to figure this out. The spray bar will introduce water with dissolved CO2 into the first chamber, right?
This will help prevent channeling of the CO2 through the aragaonite media and provide better contact with the media.
Is there going to be a spray bar in the second chamber?

Gary

no, wont work. Not enough flow from the first to the second.

I'm confused, why would there be less flow to the second than going to the first? Aren't they hooked up in series?

The first chamber has a recirculating pump, unless you wanted to add another pump it is just a dribble running through the second chamber.

What water are you re-circluating with the Iwaki?

alexwolf

exactly, you need 400-500 GPH for the spraybar to work correctly.

so the water is pumped through the spray bar through the top down or from the bottom up? I'm gonna build one like I said and I wanna know how because I have all the materials already just dont know how the flow goes. Any MSPaint pictures you might have to show me how the flow goes and where the cap on the bar is(top or bottom). Thanks. Ram

bottom up, cap is on top. No pics yet.

is this how what you mean. So the cap at the top is right below the top lid so that the water in the reactor can recirculate up and back to the pump? Looking at an MRC reactor on the MRC website it looked like the spray bar came down from the top. Either way I want to incorporate a spray bar in mine I just need to know how it hooks up.

hey alex...
any updated pix. I just need to see the inner tube and how the plumbing is through that and up to the spray bar. That's all I need to finish mine.

y can't u just add a line to the intake side of the pump from the sump to draw water in instead of having another pump to fill the reactor?(syphine water in as water flows out) u don't flow that much water from the reactor to the tank. so i the other pump would not be needed. can u do another drawing with the CO2 flow, it's input point and the water input point from the sump

hey alex...

Here is where I'm at with mine. My question is do I have to drill holes in the lower tube that holds the media plate? Or Do I just install through the inner tube so that the water rises through the spray bar? Let me know what you think. Thanks. Ram

I am going to drill holes, just in case. Then, use a filter pad or some filter floss to stop the media from falling down.

wont that affect the flow for the spray bar because the water will be pushed out the sides? If not what size holes should I drill in the inner tube. I'll just drill two so that not that much flow is lost.
