Not sure any "timer" can do what you are asking. You just need to buy a wavemaker. Depending on your budget and desired wavemaker features, there is a simple power strip device made by Aquarium Systems called Natural Wave ($55 at MarineDepot) or the more advanced Wavemaster Pro from Red Sea ($110 at Marine Depot). There are other regular timers, including the Coralife Power Center, but they only work at 15minute intervals or greater.

I can't remember where it was, but someone here had posted a link to a 'power strip' that was for controling stage lights, randomized settings and what not were a feature, and it was cheaper than the aquarium industry standard...

Monica, how big is your tank? have you considered a scwd?

Monica,

Just remember that turning pumps off and on like that will severely shorten the life of your pumps. I have had a similar set up in the past with a wavemaker power strip. It cycled 2 aquaclear 801's about every 30 min.

I have used both the Natural Wave and Coralife Power Center "powerstrip" type wavemakers. Neither has four seperate channels, but you could run two powerheads on the same channel if needed.

Gary is right that these will most likely reduce the life of the pump, but the next step up in pump controllers (with soft start, etc.) is really expensive ($100+). The next increment ($) is a single external pump and a SCWD or OceanMotions. I now have both of these and far prefer them to switching pumps on/off.

I am using OM Squirts - I have 4 of them on 4 seperate closed loop pumps.

I have an Oceanmotion wavemaker (timer) that Ive had for over 10 years. I run mostly maxijets on it and I just pulled some from buried inside my 8 year old reef that still work. Aquaclear powerheads dont seem to fare as well...
