I always thought they were in deep cold water. Liveaquaria never ceases to amaze me with the things they offer. I don't know if it's a bad things or not since almost anybody could buy anything from their site but the do have some cool stuff you couldn't find anywhere else.

after looking at the hyperlink i learned that I was totally confused. I was thinking of the "Lantern fish" or something along those lines that lives very deep in cold waters. looks pretty sweet. hey hey it's reef compatible.

would be cool for fo tank with no bright lighting, keep 3 or 4 of em so they would school somewhat! Stare at reef tank during the day and when lights go out stare at the flashlight fish tank! I couldnt do it though....$99 each I can only afford about 1/4 of one fish.

I am in the same boat as you bprewit, they are cool fish but that is one hefty price tag. I would think that while they are reef safe, they are probably better suited to a deepwater reef. I have added a note for the future when I can have as many tanks as I want and money is not an option... :) it is right behind the big many lions tank, the angler nano system, the octopus tank, the 2,000 gallon (very long) silver arrowana tank (I just LOVE that fish.) discus, and of course a porcupine puffer tank for the wifey.

oh, I to am amazed at what live aquaria offers from time to time, but then, a lot of stores offer unsuitable specimens... :(
