I would be concerned, why not just level the stand?

Definately try to level the stand. You can buy wooden shims at Home Depot or Lowes. Having the tank sit level is not just for asthetic purposes, but to keep the joints of the tank from being overstressed.

Heck I never look at the floor, I level the stand. Chris stated the best point, the stress of it all. Level the stand & go for it. 1/8 to a 1/4 " should'nt be a big deal to overcome you will be the only one that knows.

All of my stands are shimmed, anywhere from 1/16" to 1/8". Shim the stand, NOT the tank! A lazer level is great to check all four sides of the tank!
